Update 1 – 02/10/17

I know many of you have been anxious to receive news of beloved Callum.

He was involved in a very serious car accident on Friday night and was thankfully found soon after. I don’t know who discovered the accident personally, but we all thank you for raising the alarm and getting an ambulance to him as quickly as possible.

Callum was initially taken to Hereford hospital where he was stabilised and his injuries initially assessed, before being transferred to Birmingham. Initial scans and consultant assessments there showed that Callum has sustained a serious head injury and brain trauma.

A life-saving operation was performed on Saturday which removed part of his skull, allowing his brain to swell into as a result of the trauma from the accident. He pulled through the 5.5-hour surgery and remained in a stable condition in a medically induced coma throughout Saturday night, and to this time.

A follow-up scan was carried out yesterday afternoon, and the results of which we received earlier today. The scan shows that there is damage to the frontal lobe of his brain, the extent of which is impossible to predict or determine until he is brought out of sedation.

The next few days are absolutely critical for him, and although he is stable his injuries are still life-threatening. If his condition remains stable, the medical team can begin the process of reducing his sedation and reviving him in the coming days.

He is receiving the best care possible, at one the leading hospitals in the country for neurology, with a team of kind, compassionate and knowledgeable medical professionals working round to clock to care for him. Due to this level of care space at his bedside is very limited, and as such, the hospital asks that only family members come to visit during this time. We all understand your desire to visit in person to show your support, but ask that you wait until Callum’s condition has improved enough for him to benefit the most from your presence.

The outpouring of love and support from everyone has been truly overwhelming, with the offers of love, prayers, and positive energy is so touching and felt by the whole family as well as Callum, I’m sure. A truly global effort is being made to hold Callum, who we all love so dearly, in our hearts and minds as he fights to come back to us.

We all know he is the strongest of men, in both body and mind, and if anyone can come out the other side of this then it is him.

I know that Callum has many friends around the planet, many of whom I have no contact with so please pass this information on to all those need it.
